For more than twenty years, World Water Day has been celebrated on 22 March every year. Water on earth is not an infinite resource, and the importance of this product is one of the highest on earth. In the absence of water on earth, for sure, life would not have appeared. Each year of this holiday is aimed at some specific topic, for example, 2015 was the cleaning of water bodies from pollution
and in 2018 the International Decade for Water Action for Sustainable Development was launched.
Currently, 2.2 billion people lack access to safe water. Measures are needed to combat the global water crisis. World Water Day also aims to support efforts to achieve Sustainable Development Goal 6: Water and Sanitation for All by 2030.
The theme for World Water Day 2020 focuses on the inextricable link between water and water issues and climate change. Using water wisely will help fight floods, drought, increase access to water for more people, reduce water pollution, reduce greenhouse gases, and help combat climate change.
And in honor of the celebration of World Water Day, the Union of Consumers of Tajikistan, within the framework of the project “Water Supply and Sanitation in Tajikistan”, together with members of public councils in their districts from March 19-22, are holding festive events in the districts of Rudaki, Muminabad and the city of Kulyab.
These events take place in secondary schools, among schoolchildren and local residents. During the event, various competitions are held on the topic of drinking water: “Best Drawing”, “Best Poem”, “Best Scene” and “Best Essay”. There is also a Quiz, with questions and interesting answers, in which both children and adults can take part. Participants will be awarded valuable prizes for participating in competitions and winning prizes.
